Socratic Method

Named for the Greek philosopher, the teaching method relies on continuously questioning the student, rather than “giving them” the answer. At many American law schools, first-year subjects have been traditionally taught almost exclusively with the Socratic Method where the professor teaches the entire class by calling on one or more students each class and having the students answer questions. During second and third year classes, professors tend to lecture more, just as in undergraduate classes.
