conversion by destruction or alteration

occurs when an actor intentionally destroys chattel/personal possession or materially alters its physical condition, as to change its identity or character, is subject to liability. Example: A intentionally slashes B’s tires. Generally, this is conversion of the tires, but not the entire car. If, however, B is in a desert where another tire cannot be obtained for a month, it is a conversion of the whole car.
