The rates at which salaries, wages, and income other than long-term capital gains and losses are taxed; currently 12% to 37%. Capital gains for individuals with taxable income above the 12% bracket are taxed at a rate between 15% and 20%; but there are 3.8% additional taxes that may be due, and certain “collectible assets” are taxed at 28%. There is also an addition Medicare tax rate of 0.9% on income above certain thresholds.
